Half a Century of Fabulous

The day you’ve anticipated has finally arrived,

It is half a century that you have been alive.

It has been years of laughter and making me smile,

I’m not sure where time went, but it was all worthwhile.

The past seventeen years that I have known you,

You’ve done nothing but make my wishes come true.

Any place that you knew I wanted to go,

You took me without even considering no.

All that you do is for our well being,

The sacrifices you make I appreciate as I see them.

You take the pain so we can live our lives,

Without misery, with no tears sprung from our eyes.

You hide your fear but I know you feel scared,

You put on a brave face, and we know that you care.

Remember age is just a number, it does not define you,

In our eyes you don’t look or act a day over 22.

You never forget to tell me you love me,

Each day I’m reminded with those words - there are three.

Your laugh echoes and rings through each room,

With a laugh so contagious, I’ll be laughing soon too.

As I jump towards this next chapter, you’ll be by my side,

I know you support all the dreams I hold in my mind.

I see someone who cares about all those around him,

He worries all night about how he can help them.

This day we celebrate a new section in someone’s life,

He is 5 decades old, yet this number is not all I see in my eyes.

So raise a toast for the one we adore,

Cheers to this day - and the one we are all here for.

Happy 50th Daddy, love you.
